What counts toward Zakat
Zakatable wealth includes cash and bank balances, gold and silver, shares and investments, and business assets. Debts you owe are subtracted. Zakat becomes due at 2.5% once your net wealth stays above the nisab (roughly the value of 87.48g of gold) for a full lunar year (hawl).
Nisab and timing
The nisab threshold changes with the live gold/silver price and your local currency, so it is worth checking each year. Pick your country below to use a localized version with your currency and current nisab reference.
