Fixed deposit rates in Philippines (2026)
Time deposit rates ≈ 4.5–5.5% p.a. for 1+ year terms. Digital banks (CIMB, Maya Bank, ING) offer 4–6% on savings.
At around 3.75%, the fixed-deposit rate in Philippines is around the typical range for developed-market deposits.
Reference figures, ~2026. FD interest is often taxable and rates vary by bank and tenure - verify the current rate before depositing.
Worked example
For every ₱300,000 deposited at 3.75% for 5 years (quarterly compounding):
- Maturity value: ₱361,553
- Interest earned: ₱61,553
Scale to your deposit amount. Longer tenures and higher rates grow the maturity value; compare banks before locking in.
How to get the best fixed-deposit return in Philippines
- Compare several banks - smaller and digital banks often pay more than the big high-street names.
- Ladder your deposits across different tenures so some matures regularly and you can reinvest at new rates.
- Check how often interest compounds; more frequent compounding grows the maturity value.
- Factor in tax on the interest, and compare against short-term government bills or bonds.
A real-data rate check: fixed deposit rates in Philippines (2026)
Many online calculators default to a generic 4-6% "time deposit" rate, but the real Philippine market is split in two. The banks' own rate pages show the country's biggest traditional banks paying almost nothing on a 12-month peso time deposit: BPI's Peso Auto Renew (365 days) pays just 0.50% (0.75% from ₱5 million), while BDO does not publish its Peso Time Deposit rates online (check on BDO's site or at a branch); rates are gross of the 20% final withholding tax. Those low rates persist even though the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has been in a tightening cycle, hiking its benchmark policy rate by 25 basis points to 4.75% as of mid-2026 to fight inflation (Philippine Daily Inquirer, June 19, 2026) — traditional bank time deposits simply don't pass that policy rate through to depositors.
The picture looks very different once you include online/digital time deposit products. Metrobank's Online Time Deposit pays 4.50%-5.00% for 180–364 days (effective July 24, 2026), and digital-first players are in a similar range: Maya Bank's Time Deposit Plus pays 5.75% for 12 months (accounts opened from October 1, 2026), Tonik Bank pays 3.50% on 12 months (4.50% with its savings-balance condition, effective August 24, 2026), UNO Digital Bank pays 4.00%-5.50%, and CIMB Philippines' MaxSave rates are shown in the CIMB app (check on CIMB's site). In short, a depositor's real return depends heavily on whether they walk into a legacy branch (under 1%) or open an online/digital time deposit account (roughly 3.5%-5.75%), a spread of several full percentage points on the same 12-month term.
A more realistic example: because most general-population savers now have easy access to online time deposit placements even at traditional banks like Metrobank, a rate near the middle of the online segment — 3.75% annually — is a more representative calculator default than either the near-zero branch rate or the highest promotional digital-bank rate. Using A = P(1+r/n)^(nt) with a lump-sum time deposit compounded once at maturity (n=1): depositing ₱100,000 for 1 year at 3.75% gives A = 100,000 × (1.0375)^1 = ₱103,750 (₱3,750 gross interest before the 20% final withholding tax). Rolled over for 3 years at the same rate, A = 100,000 × (1.0375)^3 ≈ ₱111,677, illustrating how compounding on rollover adds roughly ₱1,927 versus simple, non-compounded interest over the same period.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is FD maturity calculated in Philippines?
Maturity = P × (1 + r/4)^(4n) for quarterly compounding, where P is the deposit, r the annual rate and n the years. fin·calc uses this standard method.
What is the current FD rate in Philippines?
As a 2026 reference, fixed-deposit rates are around 3.75% per year, varying by bank and tenure. Time deposit rates ≈ 4.5–5.5% p.a. for 1+ year terms. Digital banks (CIMB, Maya Bank, ING) offer 4–6% on savings.
Is FD interest taxable in Philippines?
In most countries FD interest is taxable as income; some offer tax-advantaged or senior-citizen options. Check your local rules - the calculator shows the pre-tax maturity value.
Is a fixed deposit safe in Philippines?
Fixed deposits carry no market risk. In the Philippines, bank deposits are typically protected by a national deposit-insurance scheme up to a set per-depositor limit. Confirm the current cap and which banks qualify before you deposit. They trade higher safety for lower long-term returns than equities.
Should I choose a fixed deposit or invest instead in Philippines?
A fixed deposit gives a guaranteed return and suits money you cannot afford to risk. Investing targets higher long-term growth but can fall in value. Many people keep an FD for safety and invest separately for growth.
Why do BDO and BPI pay less than 1% on a 12-month time deposit while the BSP policy rate is near 4.75%?
Large universal banks like BPI (0.50% on its 365-day Peso Auto Renew) and BDO (check its rate on BDO's site) have deep, low-cost deposit bases and don't need to compete aggressively on rates, so they pass through very little of the BSP's benchmark rate to ordinary time deposit accounts (BPI rate page, accessed October 15, 2026; BSP rate per Inquirer, June 19, 2026).
Which Philippine banks pay noticeably higher time deposit rates?
Online and digital-first banks pay much more for the same 12-month term: Metrobank's Online Time Deposit offers 4.50%-5.00% on 180–364 days, Maya's Time Deposit Plus pays 5.75% for 12 months, UNO Digital Bank pays up to 5.50%, and Tonik Bank pays 3.50%-4.50% for 12-month placements (banks' own rate pages, accessed October 15, 2026).
Why does this calculator default to 3.75% instead of BDO's or BPI's actual near-zero rate?
A near-zero rate reflects only walk-in branch placements at the largest legacy banks, not what a typical saver earns today. Since online time deposit options (from Metrobank, CIMB, and similar) are widely accessible and cluster around 3.5%-5%, 3.75% better represents a realistic, general-population outcome without assuming the highest promotional digital-bank rate.
