Exchange rates move every minute, so this page won't quote a fixed number — open the converter above for the current mid-market SAR/PKR rate (cached hourly, works offline with a fallback). The mid-market rate is the "real" rate; what your recipient actually gets depends on the provider's margin and fees below.
Why SAR/PKR moves the way it does
Saudi Arabia's riyal has been pegged at a fixed rate of SAR 3.75 per US dollar since 1986, and the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) treats defending that peg as a pillar of monetary policy: Governor Ayman Al-Sayari has said the peg "has helped preserve domestic price stability," pointing to inflation averaging below 3% a year over the past five years (Argaam, reporting SAMA Governor remarks). Because the riyal's dollar value is fixed rather than market-determined, the SAR/PKR rate shown above is effectively the USD/PKR rate translated through a constant: divide the mid-market USD/PKR rate by 3.75 and you land within a fraction of a percent of the SAR/PKR quote, since it is the rupee that floats, not the riyal. That means a weaker rupee against the dollar shows up in your SAR/PKR rate on almost a one-for-one percentage basis, with nothing needing to change inside Saudi Arabia itself.
Pakistan's remittances from Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia is Pakistan's single largest source of remittances, ahead of even the UAE. State Bank of Pakistan data released on 9 July 2026 show Pakistan received $41.6 billion in total worker remittances in FY2025–26 (July 2025–June 2026), up 9% on the prior year's $38.3 billion; of that, Saudi Arabia alone contributed $9.78 billion for the year and $830 million in June 2026, up 1% year-on-year (SBP data, reported by Gulf News). As with other corridors, the SBP channels these inflows through the Pakistan Remittance Initiative (PRI), a 2009 scheme run with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis that links banks, exchange companies, microfinance institutions and mobile wallets to international transfer operators to keep transfers in formal channels rather than informal hawala/hundi networks (SBP, "Home Remittance"). In FY2025–26 the SBP discontinued two subsidy programmes that had been used to encourage formal transfers — the telegraphic-transfer fee reimbursement scheme and the Sohni Dharti Remittance Program — after warning in mid-2025 that removing the incentives could push some inflows back toward informal channels (Profit by Pakistan Today, citing SBP).
SAMA's rules for transfers out of Saudi Arabia
Sending money out of Saudi Arabia runs through SAMA-licensed money changers and banks, and SAMA's rulebook sets real limits on that activity: only Category A licensed money changers may carry out domestic and international money transfers at all, and for individual customers those transfers are capped at their monthly salary (or equivalent), up to SAR 50,000 a month and SAR 500,000 a year, with businessmen capped at SAR 500,000 a year and corporate clients at SAR 1,000,000 a year. Licensed changers must record complete remitter and beneficiary details, screen both sides against sanctions and UN Security Council lists, watch for transactions with no clear economic purpose, report suspicious activity to Saudi Arabia's Financial Intelligence Unit, and keep records for ten years (SAMA Rulebook, "Rules Regulating Money Changing Business"). Both providers in the table below — Al Rajhi's Tahweel service and Enjaz, operated by Bank Albilad — work within this licensing and reporting framework.

Always compare the total received in PKR, not the headline fee — a "zero fee" transfer can hide a poor exchange rate.

Tips to get more PKR for your money
- Compare the total PKR received for your exact amount, not just the fee.
- Compare a bank channel and a transfer app or wallet for the same amount.
- Non-resident Pakistanis can also use a Roshan Digital Account (a State Bank of Pakistan initiative offered through Pakistani banks); check its terms with the bank.
- Watch the exchange-rate margin, not just the upfront fee.
- Send larger, less frequent transfers to dilute fixed fees over more rupees.
- SAMA caps how much a Saudi-based sender can transfer per month or year through a licensed money changer — if you're near the individual limit, ask the changer or your bank about the current threshold before sending.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the live SAR to PKR rate today?
Rates move constantly — use the converter above for the current mid-market SAR/PKR rate. Your recipient's amount depends on the provider's margin and fee on top of that rate.
What is the cheapest way to send money from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan?
There is no single cheapest option: price depends on amount, payment and payout method. Get quotes from providers that send from Saudi Arabia (for example Al Rajhi's Tahweel, Enjaz, or Western Union) and compare the total PKR received. Note that Wise and Remitly do not send from Saudi Arabia.
What is a Roshan Digital Account?
A State Bank of Pakistan scheme for overseas Pakistanis to send and invest money directly into PKR or foreign-currency accounts — check current terms with the offering bank.
Why is my rate worse than Google's?
Google shows the mid-market rate; providers add a margin and sometimes a fee, so the effective rate is a bit lower. Compare the final PKR amount across providers.
How do I get the best SAR–PKR rate?
Compare the total PKR received across two or three Saudi providers for the same amount, focus on the exchange-rate margin not just the fee, and send larger amounts less frequently.
