Exchange rates move every minute, so this page won't quote a fixed number — open the converter above for the current mid-market EUR/TRY rate. The mid-market rate is the "real" rate; what your recipient gets depends on the provider's margin and fees below. The lira trades under a free float set by Türkiye's central bank policy (see below), and it has trended steadily weaker against the euro for years, so check the rate again close to when you actually send.

Always compare the total received in TRY, not the headline fee — a "zero fee" transfer can hide a poor exchange rate.

Why the lira keeps sliding: TCMB policy and inflation

Türkiye has run a floating exchange rate regime since the 2001 economic crisis: the Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankası (TCMB / CBRT) says explicitly that rates are "determined by supply and demand conditions in the market" and that it doesn't set nominal or real exchange-rate targets, stepping in only to smooth excessive swings. What the TCMB does actively manage is its policy interest rate, using it to fight inflation that has stayed far above target. At its Monetary Policy Committee meeting in June 2026, the TCMB held its one-week repo rate at 37%, with annual inflation still running at 32.61% in May 2026 against a medium-term target of just 5%. The Committee's own language is telling: it described its tight stance as working "through demand, exchange rate, and expectation channels," and said it remains "highly attentive to upside risks on inflation." As long as Turkish inflation runs well above euro-area inflation, the lira tends to keep losing ground against the euro over time — that persistent gap, not any single event, is why EUR/TRY has trended in one direction for years.

Sending from Germany or elsewhere in the EU: SEPA gets you partway

If you're sending from a German or other EU bank account, the euro leg of your payment can usually move over SEPA (the Single Euro Payments Area), the European Commission's harmonised system that makes a cross-border euro transfer inside its area work like a domestic one. But SEPA's geographic scope stops at the EU plus a short list of extra countries and territories (Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, the UK, Andorra and a handful of others) — Türkiye is not on that list. That means once your money needs to actually land in a Turkish lira account, it travels the rest of the way over international correspondent banking (SWIFT) or a money-transfer provider's own payout rails, not SEPA. This is normal for the corridor, but it's also where providers differ most in speed and cost, so it's worth comparing a couple of quotes for your exact amount rather than assuming any one route is fastest.

Tips to get more TRY

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the live EUR to TRY rate today?

Rates change constantly — use the converter above for the current mid-market EUR/TRY rate. The amount received depends on the provider's margin and fee on top of that rate.

What is the cheapest way to send EUR to Türkiye?

Get quotes from two or three providers and compare the total TRY received for your exact amount, since providers price differently by amount.

Why is my rate worse than Google's?

Google shows the mid-market rate. Providers add a margin and sometimes a fee, so your effective rate is slightly lower. Compare the final amount across two or three options.

How do I get the best EUR–TRY rate?

Compare total received across a few providers, use first-transfer promos, focus on the margin not just the fee, and send larger amounts less often to dilute fixed costs.

What is the CBRT's (TCMB) policy rate right now?

The Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankası (TCMB / CBRT) held its one-week repo rate at 37% at its June 2026 Monetary Policy Committee meeting, keeping policy tight to bring down inflation, which stood at 32.61% year-on-year in May 2026 — both far above the TCMB's 5% medium-term target.

Why does the lira keep losing value against the euro?

Türkiye has run a floating exchange rate regime since 2001, so the TCMB doesn't defend a fixed EUR/TRY level; the lira's rate is set by market supply and demand. With inflation still running far above the TCMB's target even after a long run of very high interest rates, the lira has continued to lose purchasing power, which shows up as a gradually rising number of lira per euro over time.

Is Türkiye part of SEPA?

No. The European Commission's SEPA area covers the EU plus a short list of additional countries (Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, the UK and others) — Türkiye is not on that list, so a transfer's final leg into a Turkish bank cannot ride the SEPA rails.

Should I send euros to Türkiye via SEPA or SWIFT?

You can only choose SEPA for the EU-internal leg (for example, moving euros from your German bank to a transfer provider). Because Türkiye is outside the SEPA area, the leg that actually reaches a Turkish bank goes over international correspondent banking (SWIFT) or a remittance provider's own payout network — that's normal for this corridor and not a sign something has gone wrong.
